One of my friends is 17 and will be 18 in a handful of months. Her home life is horrible, and she can't get a job because no one is hiring. She has runaway once before. She is thinking about it again. What will happen if she does it again? Can the police bring her back again, because I heard that after you run away once, the police really can't do anything the second time, besides make sure you are ok. Anyone know?

  1. She's almost 18, I doubt very much that the police will act on it. I would suggest to your friend to be a little cautious about just "up and running away" and instead contact a local shelter before-hand and get setup so that she doesn't find herself in a place where she isn't able to survive with dignity. It might be a good idea for her to spend those "couple of months" assuming her life isn't in danger, preparing to get the heck out of dodge. That way, when she turns 18, she will be in a much better position to strike out away from a bad situation.
