Question:

Question about Mana Vault from magic the gathering?!?

Hi,

I was recently thinking about buying a set of mana vaults. What I noticed though was that the Alpha and Beta versions of this card seem to differ. The card text said in the Alpha and Beta versions, "tapping this artifact can be played as an interrupt." However in the other variations of the card it says, "Drawing mana from this artifact is played as an interrupt." (from revised). Do the cards have different effects or are they all the same?

Thanks in advance.

  1. they are the same, most cards follows errata ruling now

Mana Vault doesn't untap during your untap step.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay 4. If you do, untap Mana Vault.

At the beginning of your draw step, if Mana Vault is tapped, it deals 1 damage to you.

Tap: Add 3 to your mana pool

mind u, its Restricted in Vintage and Banned in Legacy, Extended, Standard

in casual play, normally, i played using mixed formats :)

  2. They're all the same. You can tap the vault for mana any time you could play an interrupt.

The older versions had different ways of spelling things out. (it's strange that they didn't say it could be tapped as a mana ability)

  3. they are all the same. as the game changes so do they way the rules work and are written. you can look at the oracle text of any card at wizards.com

here the text for mana vault

  4. They are completely the same, the only difference is choice of wording granted though, the rules have slightly changed and now we have "key words" that simplify things even further.

"Mana Vault doesn't untap during your untap step.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay . If you do, untap Mana Vault.

At the beginning of your draw step, if Mana Vault is tapped, it deals 1 damage to you.

(t): Add 3 colorless  to your mana pool. "

Hopefully I may have been helpful.
