Question about Maxi Pads?

by  |  earlier

I have never used pads in my life so I know nothing about them.

I know after I have my little girl I will need some for the bleeding.

Anyone have any suggestions on comfortable and well absorbant pads?

thanks

  1. Use allways .. and remember you will bleed pretty heavily for the first few days. so remember to buy the thick and extra long ones.

    Good Luck!

  2. I like the always maxi pads but really any of them are fine.

  3. Stayfree brand maxi-  What they don't tell you is that you can get a horrible rash from the plasticky pads- most of the super absorbants pads have like a plastic feel to them- Stayfree and I'm sure some of the cheaper brands that are real cottony feeling are not as irritating.

  4. Those 'Tena' disposable underpants for the incontinent are tops for the first two weeks or so...

  5. always pads are pretty thin and absobant.

one thing to keep in mind you can get a sort of diaper rash when you have to wear it for so long. i just used some of my babies desitin on sore spots and put a little powder on the pad when i put it on. it helps keep you dry. also allways has a kind that each one comes with a individual wipe. they help you feel fresh and clean. i personally like the ones that have wings because they stay in place better and keep you undies from getting stained.

  6. They will give you pads at the hospital.  Use them at first as they are HUGE!!  Its awesome and you feel like you are covered and not bleeding all over the place.  Deffinately use those for the first week or two, you'll be glad you did!!

After that, any sort of pad will do.  I like anything with wings as it just stays in place better and something that is fairly long but not too long so everything is covered good.

  7. For the first few days you'll want to take the ones they give you at the hospital. They are big and are pretty absorbant. After a week or so I was able to use regular Always pads. Get the ones with wings, though, so they'll stick to your panties better.

  8. Get the overnights with wings.  The longer and wider the better for those first days.

I haven't found a great brand yet either though.

  9. as people have said... they give you huge ones at the hospital. this is kinda gross but i liked them. i had a 3rd degree tear and the huge pads seemed to comfort it. i just bought always with wings. try to get the long ones just to be safe.

  10. Sigh, the ones at the hospital are large but they don't stick to your underwear very well.  You want to get the biggest size possible, in the largest pack - you'll use every one and you will need the protection.  The suggestion for adult incontinence pads was a good one as initially there will be a few times when you first get up that you have blood that was pooling come out, AND - although it's not something you'll want to think about right now, there is a good chance you will have some incontinence issues initially.  The incontinence will resolve, at least it resolves for most moms, but at first when you cough or sneeze and sometimes when you think about needing to urinate - you will urinate.

I used Always pads, but that's because that was what I used when I first got my period - and they were available at Costco.  Worked fine, as they should.

  11. you are suppose to switch off from pads and tampons cause tampons can cause toxic shock syndrome my wife gets the overnight and super flow cause she bleeds so much and something with wings she gets the store brand but she is looking for the pads they send home from the hospital..

  12. i used boots home brand ones and swear by them they were brilliant i also used boots disposable knickers so you dont ruin your own its so much better and they was so comfy

  13. all maternity pads are uncomfortable..... u will get used ot them for a while
