Question:

Question about Navy bonuses

Hi, I was curious about Navy bonuses. Lets say you have an associates degree. I know they give bonuses for that. I also know they give you a bonus for having a certain number of college credits done. Does that qualify you for 2 bonuses? It obviously took you a certain number of credits to achieve your associates degree so I was wondering if you could get both bonuses.

Thanks for the help!

  1. You can not qualify for more than 1 bonus. Usually with a degree, if you have all the documentation at the beginning (can be don't later as long as it's before boot camp if you want the guarantees) than you should get a few thousand extra. The main thing you get going enlisted with a degree or with a certain number of college credits is more rank. 24 semester hours gives you E-2 and 48 semester hours (credits) gives you E-3 which means more money and more authority (just like any job you don't want to be the lowest person on a new job). Normally it takes 18 months to get e-3.

  2. I don't' know anything, but I wanted to join Navy, and I have a couple college credits under my belt, so this is just a bit of information for me, thanks.

  3. no.  college credits are college credits.  only one bonus for having college credits.. whether it is the minimum required to be eligible, or a PHD.
