Question about New Connecticut Teen Driving Laws?

I have a little problem. The new law, effective Aug. 1st 2008, says that teens have to wait 1 year before they can drive non-family members. My problem is, under current law (having to wait 6 months) I will be able to drive other people on June 4th.

Will I still be able to drive people after august 1st? or will I then have to start following the new law and wait ANOTHER 6 d**n months.

Thanks!

  1. Driver’s License Holders

Under the new law effective August 1, 2008, passenger restrictions for 16 and 17-year-old drivers are extended.

The new law doubles the length of time that passenger restrictions apply.

    Curfew for Nighttime Driving

Under the new law, effective August 1, 2008, 16 or 17-year-old licensed drivers will not be allowed to drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., except for employment, religious, school-related or for certain other purposes.  Currently, the nighttime hours restriction is midnight to 5 a.m.

  3. I emailed the CT DMV Teen Taskforcewhatever the same question, my 6 month restrictions end on April 31. So basically I can drive non family members for 3 months until the new restrictions apply- then loose them for 3 months until the end of October, when I gain them back again.

I explained this in my email and all I got back was a rude "Thank you for your email" and a link to the same DMV page I've been studying for days.

I would be happy to pass along any other (helpful) responses that I get; it seems that we're stuck in the same pickle.
