Question about OPKs?

When using OPKs, does the entire test line have to be as dark as or darker than the control line?

I did an OPK today and the test band looks as dark as the control around the edges, but is lighter in other places.

I'm using internet test strips.

  1. Last month I got what I thought might be a positive.  I was unsure since not even half the line was dark.  Just a thin strip down the left side was dark and the rest was light.  I considered it a positive and 14 days later on the dot I got my period.  So I think that if any of it is as dark as the control line then it is positive, even if it is just a thin strip.

    Good luck TTC!

  2. The darn things can be aggervating at times, but I do one method, even though it's costly: I buy a thing of the regular sticks that you "tinkle" on, then I also buy the ones that are the diping sticks kind. That way, I have two to compare with!

But being that I have PCOS, opk's are harder @ detecting our Lh surge.

  3. the issue is i find the sticks quite confusing to read, so i use clearblue digital as i dont have to analyse the colour of the lines. I think clearblue is more accurate, use that. also, dont use opks from ebay, cuz they are rubbish...

  4. I've heard many women get half the line as dark as the control line and that it's considered a positive.  Last month I used the last of my internet opk's and I had bought a clearblue digital to follow up with and when my internet opk's didn't look positive, my clearblue digital showed the + happy face.  I would say it's positive.

http://www.peeonastick.com  has some comparison pictures so you can maybe cross check yours to them!

  5. I only do the clearblue digital ones so I do not know about the two line ones. You should check peeonastick.com to compare your results to their pictures.

  6. I must say that I used the cheap internet ones and they worked for me, I never had a problem with the line, it was an even colour. If its darker I would still say there was a chance you were about to ovulate, so still 'go for it' for a few days anyway. I was ttc for 12 months and then bought 30 of these sticks, but only had to use them for 2 months before I got a positive, now 11 weeks. I really hope it works for you, I know how disheartening it can be along the way.
