Question about PGW bills?

Can you cut off your PGW in the summer & turn it back on in the fall??

I do not use my gas at all in the summer. My stove is run by electric. My water is heated with gas, but I was my clothes with cold water only. & in the summer I usually take cold showers. I was my dishes with warm water but thats probably not necessary. I mean I dont use it at all & the bill is still $50 per month with no use. I mean come on thats insane if you think about it. Why cant we just cut it off the months we dont use it to save some money from being robbed out of our pockets? Im sure they will charge u to turn it back on, does anyone know how much??

  1. Not sure why your bill would be so high with the use you describe.  My usage is similar (hot water only) and my bill rarely exceeds $20 in the summer.  Admittedly, I am with SJG, but there cannot be that much difference in the rates.

You might want to have PGW come out and check your system for a leak or a tap..  Also check for a leak in the hot water system (check your water bill to see if it is higher than your neighbors).

Strictly on a money saving note, you can turn down the temperature of your water heater to cut usage..  But I'm still pretty sure this is a leakage or illegal tap on your line issue.

Disconnecting PGW would not save you money, I think the reconnect costs is $149..
