Question:

Question about Palin's "executive experience"?

I keep hearing Republicans tout Palin's "years of executive experience"...can anyone explain to me how being the 2-term mayor of a town of less than 9000 people (smaller than a lot of state universities, including Alaska State) really prepares someone to be Vice President of a country of over 300,000,000? Honestly, I don't understand the leap there.

  1. Okay, not to say anything against her.

Although Alaska is the largest state, It also has the smallest population. I am not sure you are giving a fair defintion and description. (to ms manner)

And in that instance neither does McCain

  2. AS Governor ......Palin GOVERNED which Obama has NEVER DONE

Can you explain WHY the LESS EXPERIENCED Obama is runing for President when COMMON SENSE dictates that the MORE EXPERIENCED Biden should be running for President ?

If Palin does not have enough experience to be Vice-President .....HOW IN THE WORLD could Obama have enough experience to be President ?

  3. That would be zero. To those McCain supporters that attack Obama for not having any executive experience. Neither does McCain so he shouldn't be running either right?

  4. I think she might have been on only one that was willing to the job.

Our last executive "W" had lots of business experience.   Mostly bankrupting his dads companies.

  5. She is a state governor, in case you weren't paying attention.

Obama has had zero executive experience, and he's running for president.

Seems a lot of people like you are disregarding the fact that she's a governor. Give it a rest.

  6. You and me both.

  7. (Hand raised: Let me let me!) OK, Palin's executive experience is, she eats caribou, she jogs, she is anti choice and she had a downs child instead of an abortion. Oh wait. those aren't part of her executive experience, those are part of her "lifestyle." Sorry. (Sits down.)

  8. 2 Years as Governor.

  9. This "executive experience" issue is a matter of comparing apples and oranges; McCain doesn't have executive experience, either. But when looking at overall experience, I'd say Palin just doesn't add up.

Palin has only 2 years as governor of Alaska. Before that she was mayor of a 6,700-person podunk town in Alaska. My husband is from a 7,000-population podunk town in Kentucky, and trust me when I say their mayor is not ready to be vice president I mean it. The issues of a rural backwater town do not even compare to what issues the nation faces.

Obama has been a U.S. Senator for three years. But before that he served eight years as a Senator in the Illinois state legislature. He taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School, a top 10 law school, for 12 years. He has a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. Palin went to ... the Univeristy of Idaho? And has a BA in communications? I'm sorry but only the most ardent Kool-Aid drinker could compare these two and think Palin has anything close to the qualifications needed for the office she seeks, versus Obama.

  10. Obama has no experience on that front. He is at the top of the ticket that's embarrassing.

  11. By definition an executive position is a Governorship. So since none of the other candidates has ever been more than a Senator which is NOT an executive position, her two years as Governor gives her more executive experience.

She has been the governor of the largest state in the country, with an incredibly diverse economy and she is commander in chief of the State military.  So Obama and his role as community organizer doesn't really measure up.

    Simply a matter of definition.

  12. Compared to Obama's zero executive experience it is not a long reach
