Question about Party Monster?

In the movie Party Monster, when James St James (Seth Green-HOTTIE) is talking to the rat, what does it say about that in the book because he couldn't of seen of a talking rat lol! Or was he just having another overdose? Please tell me! I love Party Monster! (and Seth Green. hehe)

Lol I think they just couldn't have some cops come in and explain that based on the evidence found this is what happened to Angel. It would have ruined the mood of the film. Having the rat explain it was creepy and kind of exciting. I actually don't know what the book says. Have you watched the actual Party Monster documentary?  It's great!
