Question:

Question about Paxil?

My GP put me on Paxil for severe anxiety and social phobia. I've been on it for almost 6 weeks and it's helped my mood a bit and I have a strong urge to do things instead of sitting around the house and crying, but it hasn't helped with my anxiety at all. I still worry about talking with people and when I do talk with them I'm a nervous wreck. How long does it usually take for the Paxil to work? Should I ask my Dr. about upping the dose soon?

  1. i was on it and it never helped me. good luck.

  2. With just about any of the SSRIs it can take 4 to 6 weeks to notice a significant improvement in symptomotology.  You should, indeed, speak to your physician about whether the current dose is appropriate or if an escalation is indicated.

  3. I am also on Paxil for Anxiety attacks. It helped  but I was on it for 3 months before my DR> would increase the dosage.

You need to give it time and use it as directed. Talk to your DR. about it. Do not take advice on here from others, even me as Paxil works differently on everyone.
