Question:

Question about Presidential election...

Current Presidential elections are merely popularity contests, wherein the country votes on who they like best, and the most popular winner leads the country. It's not about who is most able, but who has more followers. Is there any feasible way for this country to elect a President NOT based on popularity?

  3. Elections are ALWAYS popularity contests!  Whoever gets the biggest portion of the POPULATION's vote wins.  Elections are supposed to be popularity contests.  It's what elections are all about.

I don't think you understand the word popularity.  As long as there is fair and real democracy and elections, the most popular candidate will win.  That's what it's all about.  It's the candidates jobs to make their selves more popular.  Who is most able to do this will be president.

I think what you are trying to criticize is why a candidate is popular.  Why we like particular candidates and not others.  What it really comes down to is that the candidate YOU favor is not winning so you are blaming the system.

  4. No way.

  5. Moral Values on a level of human dignity; republicans win! When they,as individuals apply themselves to the principiles of the TEN COMMANDMENTS! Sacrifice is a human lesson that is needed when dealing with reality! Democrats have never valued being oppresed, but the oppressors claim everyone is a facist and never look in the mirror! The messenger is always under attack, but the message prevails! The voice of the people is always ridicled by the small minded cult of disbelievers, just look at what they continue to create! A high cost of existance from the 2008 leaders of Congress!

  6. The bottom line answer is NO!!!!
