my laptop had 1gb of ram and i added another gb. they are both DDR2 pc2-5300 but now my computer seems to be running slower than it did without the extra ram. I did a scan of my system on www.crucial.com and it said that my computer recognizes the extra ram but my computer runs slower??? does anyone know why this is? is there something i have to do?

  1. The extra module you added may not be be compatible with your motherboard or with the other stick. This will cause your computer to run slower, and may even cause hard drive corruption. I would do a memory test scan with memtest '86, or some other memory testing program, and if you get a lot of errors, its a compatibility issue.. Usually when i buy ram for anything, I write down the part number of the ram that's in the computer already and then look that up online. This way you know its compatible.
