does DDR have a different number of pins than DDR2 ?

and does DDR2 have a different number of pins than DDR3 ?

  1. Yes, they are all different from each other and cannot be used in the wrong motherboard unless you want to break or fry it. http://www.mymediatutorials.com/

  3. though i have never consiered this fact but yes they have different nos of pins plus they are of totally diffrent type so u can use a DDR ram in a motherboard which supports DDR2 and vice versa..

    So if u dont know much abt mobos and rams do cunsult a tech person or u'll damage the memory fo the mobo or both..

It's not the number of pins that matters, it's the key or notch that separates the pins...DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 are all notched differently because they have different power requirements...this is done so you don't try to install DD3 sticks on a DDR motherboard. It just wont fit no matter how hard you push.
