Question about Rice milk?

At what age can a baby have rice milk? My Daughter is allergic to dairy and I want to get her off of her (disgusting) baby formula as soon as possible and I wondered at what age rice milk could be introduced so that she could stop having Neocate.

Thanks

  1. Rice milk doesn't have many nutrients so it is best to keep your daughter on formula until your doctor says it is ok to stop giving it to her. Rice milk should never be used as a substitute for formula.

  2. My oldest has a severe dairy allergy and so we have always had soy milk in our house.  After weaning, the kids graduate to soy.  Rice is not the best option, as it is very low in fat.  One year olds still need a high fat content source.  My kids have also really enjoyed almond milk, which offers a higher fat content as well.

  3. yes it would be fine then to offer rice milk, my partners sister has to drink that milk as she is allergic to dairy and she is good on it nothing wrong with her

  4. You should check with her doctor. The nutrients in rice milk are different than in animal milk so while I think it's safe for babies to drink rice milk at a fairly young age, using it as a formula replacement probably isn't a good idea. I guess it would depend on how you're planning to use it and the baby's age. The only way to know if it's right for her is to talk to a doctor or nutritionist.
