is it better to drive your own car around so you can stop where you want and take your time, or is it better to go on one of the coach tours so you can sit back and enjoy the view?

  1. hi you

in my view it is i have done the ring of kerry many times and i think doing it by car is best if your have not done the ring of kerry before or not use to irish roads i would do it by coach first time as the roads on the ring of kerry or very norrow and it can make for some very hard driving in places

  2. Hi, I'm from Kerry, and I would strongly advise you to drive it yourself - the coach tours do not stop at some of the best spots, and some of the shops/cafes they stop at are overpriced. Much of the beauty of the Ring is being able to get out of the car whenever you want and just ramble around to look at the view, or stop somewhere you find interesting. Hope you enjoy it.

  3. By your own car is certainly best. People of somewhat advanced age will still find the coach quite adequate.

Besides the well trodden "Ring" there are most beautiful "smaller rings" like say detour to Ballinskelligs,or Feonig  Kilmasadar : DINGLE-CONNOR PASS to Cloghane, Castlegregory ,Maharrees,  Glenteenassig  and of course dont forget north Kerry to Ardfert, Banna Strand, ...............

  4. i have done both..........but the trap......with your man driving you and you with your legs hanging  along with the freedom to snap.......pictures left right and center...please don't take your car.........go to katie reilly's----you'll have a blast

also listen to the wonderful stories you'll hear how how Collen

Bawn was thrown over the rocks.............you are going to love it.......it will i promise be the best trip you ever invested in by far............HAVE A SAFE & HAPPY TRIP--WISH I HAD THE CABBAGE TO GO

  5. we did it in a hire car, and I did most of the driving ... personally I much prefer to be in my own vehicle rather than being taken on a coach tour because I feel more "footloose and fancy free" but of course that means that you're not able to relax and enjoy the views so much ... but it does mean you can stop where you want when you want, including toilet breaks, coffee breaks, snacks, photo opportunities etc, and plan your journey so that you stop overnight where you want too

so my vote would go for driving yourself

but the views on that trip are lovely and there's some gorgeous countryside, so I can understand why lots of people would prefer the coach - also from a coach you're that much higher up and can see more than from a car

  6. if your going alone take a tour, if your going with company hire acar, but it can be expensive to hire a car, and dont forget to drive on the left, (only joking you) enjoy its lovely

  7. it really just depends on what you want to do but if you drive your car you probably have a better advantage so you can stop were you want.......................hope that helps
