I'm from the Arkansas in the U.S. My buddy says that he's goin to move to Russia and join the Russian Army. Is that even possible? I know here in the states immigrants can join the Army but could you in Russia? Wouldn't he be treated bad? Also he'd lose his citizenship here.

  1. Yes, it is possible.

At the time of service he would have a visa to stay in Russia. American citizenship he will not lose.

A very small salary. Slightly more than one thousand dollars.

  2. are you serious?  if so, then i suggest you talk your friend out of it.  that is not a good idea from many points of view.  he can probably join the russian army, though he may have hard time doing so b/c everyone there will think that he is either not being serious or just being plain crazy.  i doubt that he will be treated badly but he will be certainly looked upon as a very weird person to say the least.  the pay is very small too.

  3. Im not sure if thats possible. How old is your friend. I know that they have a required draft but i think that stops after you turn 22. Also there is alot of hazing that goes on in the russian army and i mean a lot. I believe it got a little better but still. Also since your friend is american he would have an even harder time in the army. Russians are not too fond of Americans. Im not saying it to be mean but its the truth. Also it is incredibly hard to become a citizen of Russia well citizen of Moscow that is dont know about other cities. However i dont think he will lose his american citizenship because i have a dual citizenship russian and american. so hope this helps but if i were you id talk your friend out of it. well atleast the army part. But living there is amazing.

  4. Join russian army? That's a good joke :) No, he will not be accepted, only russian people can serve. Even if your friend gets russian passport, he wouldn't be accepted. Can you imagine the eyes of a commander at the army center. No smaller than basketballs.

  5. Actually Russian citizenship shouldn't be too hard. There are many immigrants in Russia. Of course he would lose his American citizenship. He has to learn Russian culture and language. That will be a challenge in itself. It will take him awhile to become a citizen. Of course they will ask why he wants to be a citizen. The Russian Army does not get paid well. But it's a job. The US military are the best paid in the world right under paid assasins/ex military veterans for hire. Your friend might get ridiculed at first but if he does become a citizen then he won't be treated bad. He will be treated like a Russian more than likely. I hope your friend knows what he is getting into. Good luck, Poka!:)

  6. Some say It's possible, some say it's not but you should try!

I heard it was a story about Americans serving in Russian Army! You need to try and tell other people about the results. Don't give up! And don't be suprized when they talk about spies and stuff.  Good luck!
