ok so...

there's this guy & he always brags about how he's so good at swimming and that because he swims--hes also good at running.

every chance he gets he's always bragging about being good at swimming. . .

so then i posted a question about swimmers b4 and then ppl were like "yeah im a swimmer and swimmers have the most defined muscles -- you can't find an athlete who's muscles are as defined as swimmers..." and stuff like that.

do you think swimmers are conceited?

  1. I don't really call that being 'conceited.'

Swimmers, especially male swimmers, have every right to be proud of their muscles.  Seriously, have you ever seen a competitive male swimmer that doesn't have an insanely amazing body?

    Doubt it.

and georgew, swimming is the most popular sport by far at a lot of high schools, including my own.

Most high school swim teams get cut because of lack of funding, as is the case at mine.

This year, we had to pay for everything-suits, caps, replacement equipment, etc.

The football team got new uniforms, duffle bags, helmets, and chartered buses to almost all of their games.

  2. I hate to admit it, but yes we are conceited.  Swimming is such a popular sport and it's definitely notorious for creating braggarts.

male swimmers are most likely to flex or show off pecs because they are proud of their physique.

Girl swimmers like myself also brag.  They show their s**y legs and arms off.

My legs are very strong and they propel me through the water.

Swimming shows off the most skin and yes it tones lots of muscles.

  3. YES I THINK SWIMMERS ARE DEFINATLY CONEITED!! but i do have to admit that thier muscles are amazingggggg! and they are oh so s**y! theres this guy on my cross country team and hes a swimmer and hes also our best runner. he is always bragging about his swimming talents but he is the hottest guy around!

  4. I think some of them definitely are, but my best friend and her brother are both swimmers and they aren't.  It all just depends on the persons personality.  I guess.  Also i think Footballers (soccer players) have the best muscles, esp. their thighs ;)

  5. yea we are pretty conceited, but i think that has to do with the fact that we spend so much time on our sport and not as many people pay as much attention to it as other sports, so we like to let people know how good we are

  6. Once they turn 20 or so and in college they probably won't be swimming anymore and will probably just get old and fat like the rest. So just ignore them. I heard that swim teams in high schools are closing down for lack of interest. And the boys would say I don't want to wear some "g" speedo on a swim team.

  7. Not every swimmer in this forum is conceited - like in any other sports, there is a share of conceited athletes or individuals.  I think the guy's just vying for attention and the way that he gets his share is through bragging - so just ignore him.

  8. it's not that swimmers in general are conceited it's maybe just those people but it is true though that no sport can work out all the muscles all at once like swimming.

  9. Yes, swimmers generally are conceited because it is a sport that yes does often involve teams, but is not played as a team sport.  As a swimmer you can attribute all your success to yourself and at times it may appear that swimmers are quite proud because they don't have the same reliance on others that most people who play a team sport.

  10. It all depends on the personality of the person. I would certainly say that most swimmers are confident of their abiltiy. Personally I hate talking about acheivments. I'll talk about my times and stuff, but I dont' act like they are anything special.

  11. Some of them would be, but remember, there are conceited people in EVERY SPORT, not just swimming.

Swimmers are people too, and some of my swimming friends are pretty shy and modest to the point where even if they win their race, they'll just say, "Oh, it's nothing."

The guy you know seems to think he actually is really good at swimming, so that's probably why he said that. Or maybe he's just trying to impress you...;)

But if it really bugs you, then the next timme he brags about swimming, ask him for his time on an event (e.g: 100 freestyle), and then check it up online and compare it to the real Olympic swimmers!

Then tell him just how far behind he is compared to the pros and rub it in his face until he stops. (:

  12. I think there probably is not much of a correlation between sports and conceitedness because everyone here says that swimmers are conceited but from where I'm from, it's the football players and wrestlers that have the biggest heads.

Maybe the swimmers you know just want some attention because swimming does not get that much attention.

  13. Most likely.
