  1. Are you asking about the SIG MAUSER M2 PISTOL?  Sounds like Sig may have bought out Mauser or at least the right to use the 'Mauser' name and/or design.  I don't know what they are selling for but if it is a low price, then it is probably a low introductory price.  Grab one before the price goes up.

  2. The story behind that pistol is slightly odd, it was designed in America by a Swiss company that bought the rights to name their pistols after a German company. The Mauser is just how it's badged it was designed and manufactured by SIGARMS instead of shoving it into it's existing line.

The weapon itself is a perfectly good pistol. The only drawbacks are a slightly complicated disassembly/ reassembly procedure and a need for slightly more lubrication than many semi-autos due to it's rotating barrel system.

The big issue is, does it fit comfortably in your hand? It is a bit chunkier than many pistols of the same basic size, which has its advantages and drawbacks. This extra girth helps tame the recoil in the heavier calibers, but it does detract from it's concealability to some. The safety is also in a bit of an odd location, but as it is a DOA pistol, I would usually ignore the safety when carrying it.

All in all, it is a decent pistol and it's going at a great price.

  3. First of all, a history lesson.  Mauser was left in tatters after WW2 and re-emerged as HK.  Since then HK has periodically marketed the Mauser name (the famous "mauser band" symbol) on certain pistols (The Sig M2 and two f*g (hungarian) handguns).  Mauser rifles still exist but only in expensive (and sometimes odd) hunting calibers .

As far as the M2 is concerned, I would avoid it unless you are some Swiss-German pistol nut.  Stick with a more classic gun that has more of a history.  The gun is marked down because it is out of production and never sold well.  It is about as popular as one of those Israeli wonderguns (or even less so).

  4. It is a mauser pistol, not a sig pistol.  Mauser has reached an agreement with SIGUSA to distribute the pistol in the USA, and I suspect that SIG is doing most of the distribution in the rest of the free world as well

It is too early to tell if the pistol is any good or not.  But in general, you get what you pay for. Don't expect Sig Saur performance at half the price.
