I got some spirtfire Broadheads at d**k sporting goods. They were the only Mechanical 125 grain broadheads they had. I was a little fishy about how they would shoot. It says you can only shoot 5X!??? and they need be replaced by new blades.

Where can I get new blades when i need them also I shot it twice and it hit perfect.

I have a hoylt ultra sport set on 50 lb with these 125 grain points is this good enough to take down deer from 10-25yd???

I am afraid the blades wont open when they hit a deer. This is my second yr of archery and i really would like to take a deer or 2 in archery

  1. They are just like any other broadhead. They will take deer, if the deer are hit properly. When someone makes a bow kill or two with a head that gives them good results, that becomes the greatest head in the world. The next guy may use the same head, make a couple of bad shots, and that same head is the worst head in the world. Shot placement is more important then choice of broadheads. Concentrate on making good shots , and your broadheads will become the best in the world.Good luck!

  2. They are going to open just fine. Cheap, thin bladed heads are the manufacturers answer to a crappy economy.

Frankly, walmart has the exact same heads for half the price.

  3. Those are decent broadheads, they will get you deer. They will open. I actually would recommend Rage expandable broadheads. They slide open instead of flipping open so you don't lose kinetic energy. With your poundage you would be better off not using spitfires unless you never plan on going farther than the 25yd you said. You do have to replace the blades on the spitfires, they make kits for that. Any expandable is going to have to have its blades replaced at some point.

  4.     I was using the same type of mechanical broad heads and lost 3 deer last year.I don't think they were opening properly. I went to muzzy 3blade 100 grain no problem since. It is mainly your preference. They have some new ones that open from the back. On impact the center pushes in and causes the three blades to pop out. They have 1" 1.25 1.5 inch cutting diameters you may try them.
