On the cover, what do the runes around the edges of the cover mean? Thery are different to any runes I've seen before.

  1. I think they are the directions given on the map, to show where the Lonely Mountain is. you could try translating them, if you have the last LOTR book. He has a guide to each rune and its counterpart in English at the back.


  2. Yes they are Tolkein runes.  The answer will be at the back of the book.  

  3. It's elvish.  Haven't read the book in a while, so wouldn't know if it had an exact meaning.
