My wife has her driving test due on Thursday 7th Feb. I have looked at the long range weather forecast for then and it appears to be predicted to be showery with winds of apprx 17.5 mph. Is this bad enough for the test to be cancelled?

  1. Fog, bad light and ice are the main causes of cancellations. I've never known a test be cancelled because of rain or wind - although I guess they'd cancel in floods or storm force winds.

But ice is the most likely one - which is why early morning tests in winter are the most likely to be cancelled.

Best of luck to your wife :-)

  2. No she should be fine. Part the way through my test the heavens opened, and my window wipers had to be on full speed. It was awful, we still contnued and I still passed (first time).

The only time I think they would cancel, would be if there was heavy snow, or thick fog.

    Good luck!!

  3. I wouldn't have thought so. I found this on the DSA website:

    '

    Weather conditions/ mechanical problems etc

DSA do not conduct tests in bad light or in adverse weather conditions for the safety of the candidate and the examiner. We will arrange another appointment at no further cost, but compensation is not payable. Candidates should call the telephone number quoted on the appointment letter to check whether their test will go ahead.

If the driving test is not completed for reasons attributable to you or your vehicle, you will have to take another test at your own cost.'

  4. probably not.  would either have to be very heavy rain, very strong wind or foggy

  5. No, 17.5 mph is nothing to worry about.

  6. Nowhere near bad enough. I used to be a driving instructor and the DSA examiners told me that a driver is expected to be able to deal with adverse weather conditions. I had plenty of tests go ahead in filthy wet, windy weather, even a little snow won't necessarily cause a test to be cancelled so long as the painted road markings are still visible, although obviously if it's really bad, the test's off.

Just make sure she knows how to work the windscreen wipers, demister, and if the car has it, use the air conditioning too.

  7. No, this isnt really bad weather, think it would have to be a lot worse than this before they cancelled a test.

  8. It really is not as bad as you think plus this will help her in the to deal with all types of weather because one day she will be on her own and you will be glade that she has some experience.

  9. No - test will only be cancelled if there is 3 feet of snow and ice on all the roads of the test route.

  10. No
