ok i just bought a phone from overstock.com and on the status in their website it says that it already shipped but when i click on the USPS tracking number it says this:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on August 18, 2008 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

What does this mean?????? Did the shpping company lose my item or what?? :(!

  1. dont worry about it. look at it tomorrow and if it still says the same thing, notify overstock and USPS

  2. Not necessarily-- it means that the company submitted the information (and paid for the item) via an online account.

    There are three possibilities:

    1.  The company may have dropped the shipment off, in which case you should be able to see it in the USPS system within 24 hours (this is most likely).  This means that by tomorrow when you check the tracking, you should see the package moving through the USPS system.

    2.  The company didn't drop it off at the post office, it's still sitting in their warehouse somewhere.  If this is the case you will continue to get the message you received every time you check until the company drops off the package.  I'd call or email after a day or two.

    3.  The company dropped off the package, but USPS did not scan it when dropped off.  This happens very occasionally.  In this case you'll never be able to track it, but within 3 days the package will appear at your doorstep.

Hope this helps.  Most likely the company dropped it off, and it hasn't been scanned in yet.
