my boyfriend had put in a claim for his back after finding out that during service he has a bulging disk. They are saying that he has to go before a board and prove the injury even though they have a mri. who could he get to represent him instead of a lawyer?

  1. Have him talk to his unit chaplain.  The chaplain can advise him on what he needs to do and help him get it done.


  2. He needs to contact a service organization, such as the American Legion, DAV or any other reputable Veterans Service Officer. They know the laws. If your BF's condition was diagnosed in-service, then he will get something for it. It's based on 0% (yes, we recognize you have it, but it's not hampering your life right now), to 100% (oh baby, it's bad). They go in 10% increments (in other words, there's no such thing as 25% it's 20 or 30%).
