Question about Windows - Vinyl or not?

We are looking to replace all of our windows in our home. We live in a modest home in Northeast PA. One company is selling us the Fiberglass windows while another is saying Vinyl will be okay. I have yet to find a neighbor who has bought Fiberglass. Is that nice of a window really neccessary? What about a BF RIch Window? Thoughts?

  1. I've been in Alaska now for 25 years and have never had any problems or complaints about vinyl windows. I replaced two of my mother's windows with vinyl this summer. The key is proper installation. But that goes for all windows.

  2. Be weary of the traveling salesperson..they often sell a product such as windows and they tell you they are the greatest thing ever invented......Fiberglass, Vinyl etc it's still plastic..... Stick with a trusted name such as Anderson..Pella.. Marvin.. Peachtree.. Realize,  there is a huge range of prices for windows From hundreds to thousands...It's best to go to your local home center.. (NOT THE MEGA STORES) and compare features of different windows ...then compare price for those features. I personally like "ANDERSON" 200 THINLINE double hung series. You can get them in either as a "tilt in" or not "tilt in" ...  good luck.....
