Question about XBOX live?

i have a Xbox live silver membership, meaning a free one. recently when i've gone to multiplayer on GTA IV it has says on the cell phone that i like don't have privileges to do it or something. any help?

That's because you need Xbox Live GOLD Membership, which entitles you to such things as online mulitplayer.

Xbox Live Gold costs $7.99 for a month, or $49.99 for a year. If you think about it, going with the year saves you money (paying per month will end up costing around $98 for a year).

its true you need a gold one, but just do this, create another profile and then press join xbox live , fill every question that it asks and when they ask you what membership you want tell them you want the silver one the press keep silver and then is going to say that you have been chosen for a 1 month free xbox live gold membership , after that you can go play gta 4 with that profile and they wont tell you that you cant play online

The fact that you have to pay for a Gold membership to play multi-player online is one of the debatable flaws of the 360. You should get the 49.99 year long one as you will save money in the end.
