Question about Yahoo Groups. I started a group but no one has joined.?

Question

Hello, I started a group about a month ago but no one has joined. I set the group settings to members only so prospective members would e-mail me so I can find out a little bit about them and then approve them to join the group. So far I haven't heard anything from anyone.

I know my group is a great idea and want people to join.

well, you need to go to management- under group settings and click membership- and type back the first line of Membership Type:

there is no settng 'members only'- if you have a 'closed'group, it wont be in the directory at all for anyone to find. this could be the problem other than new groups do take time to gain members

if the group is closed membership- you cannot change that setting. your only choice would be create a new group- but you wouldn't be able to use the same group title until Yahoo recycles

You will have to spread the word about your group.  You can send Invites or private emails to your friends and family to let them know about it.  There are Yahoo groups designed specifically for owners to promote their groups. We got a lot of new members by promoting our groups there.
