Question about a 99 Honda Shadow 1100C2 Spirit ?

My speedometer is off 5 miles per hour, is there anything you can adjust or do to fix it, beside taking it to a dealer?

speedohealer is what you need just fyi most bikes are off by 5 to 10 percent ive got the same problem on my honda but don't want to spend the 120 bucks to fix it

That's not bad, many are off 8-10 mph. Of course the odometer is a problem when it comes to overall mileage. Most people just compensate and live with it, prevents speeding tickets! You can have it adjusted by a specialized speedo place, buy an expensive device by speedmaster, but dealers usually won't do anything.
