Question about a FlightTech ITC 401?

Do any of you own a FlightTech ITC 401? My boyfriend has one and seems to have lost the paper that tells which reostat (spelling?) controls the background noise. There are 3 of them and one is suppose to adjust the background noise. Which one? Thank you in advance for your kind and knowledgeable answers.
