My cat is about 1 month and a few weeks pregnant. She hasnt had her kittens yet but she might any day now. I also own 2 other young kittens that arent from any of her litters and I wanted to know if it's normal if they come up to my pregnant cat and try to suck the milk out of her nipples? Some people say that its unhealthy because they would suck all the milk out of her and she would have none left for the babies when they come. I dont know, please help if you can thanks :]

  1. no. . .do not let them suck the milk. . . in fact my cat just had a litter of kittens and trust me they need all of the milk. . .so try as hard as you can to keep them away from her nipples!!!

  2. Hey man,

don't worry about it. As long as she is healthy she will never run out of milk. I had this happen 3 times and never ever has caused a problem dont worry.

  3. It's perfectly normal, but I wouldn't allow it until the kittens were born. If they're that desperate and young, I'd buy them kitty formula and bottle feed them until then. [:

  4. If the cat is healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do these kittens have a mother? If so, then return them to her. If not, you might just consider it a favor to helpless animals and take them in.

  5. Milk replenishes itself. As for the kittens you currently have. Don't worry, those newborns are pretty fiesty and I think the older kittens will know enough to stay out of the way. Besides, mama will probably shoo them away once her kittens are born.

  6. 1) A cat is preggos for about 65 days, so she probably has a week or so left.

    2) If you have other kittens trying to suckle, it's not going to hurt mommy (unless they have all there teeth in and accidently bite her).  Her milk will not be "used up", she will make more.

    3) You should really get your cat fixed asap after she has these kittens. What do you plan on doing with these kitties?

  7. NO you should not let them do this. The first milk has vitamins in it that the new babies are going to need to get to survive. I would not let them do that! This will also make the mom cat reject her new babies when they come.
