Question about a Whirlpool Duet Dryer 4-prong cord installation...?

I just bought a whirlpool duet electric dryer and also have the 4-prong cord to install. The manual with the dryer is all but worthless and I am wondering how I install the cord. There are 4 colors (green, red, white, and black) and there is a 5th cord (white) attached to the dryer itself.

  1. The red and black are to be connected to the studs marked power or line.(Normally the center 2 posts) The white is for the common and the green should go to a green s***w.

  3. the for prong pigtail is nothing more than a 3 prong but with 1 more ground wire.new fed. codes require 2 grounds normally the line wires(power) are across from each other, sidexside the grounds will be top to bottom look on the back of your dryer and you should see  the diagram(wiring)located on or near the pigtail hook up screws, hope this helps, used to be only mobile homes had to be double grounded, but now everything does, make sure the outlet is set up for 4 wire hook up
