Question about a car title...?

Alright... long story short... I bought a car, had the title, and went to get it registered. I was told that the car was co owned so I couldn't register until the 2nd person signed... Anyway the guy I bought it from lives really far away so I mailed him the title. He has yet to send it back and won't answer any more of my calls. Its been 3 months and after this month the tags will expire and the car will no longer be legally drivable. Anyhow... I can't get to the guy, I don't have the title only receipt of sale, Its from a guy not a dealership... Is there anything I can do?

he thinks the car is his again.heis trying to s***w you.sue him for your money back plus cots for your out of pocket.he is counting on you not to go through that trouble.go get the bum.good luck.

Send a registered letter to him demanding the return of the title (second signature included) or you will be contacting a lawyer and your DMV investigation..CC to the DMV.

Retain a copy of your letter. Give the guy one week after receipt of the letter.

You now have documentation that the previous owner can't be found or will not respond. This will help with DMV. You will, now, need to beg DMV for their help and guidance
