  1. petsmart overprices their cockatiels when i was getting mine i went to petsmart and it cost 140 but i went to a independant store they had handfed 9 month old baby cockatiels for 75$ way much more cheaper and prettier and go check out some local pet shops some of them will clip their wings for free

  2. They range from 80-140. Depending on if its handfed or not (which i recommend). They will clip the wings for you.

  3. At a petsmart they are pretty expensive the petsmart near me in NC they cost $140-$160 it may be less where you live don't know, and I don't think they clip wings there, I know a Parrot Store where they do it for $10 its an ok cost but if you learn how to do it yourself it'll be less of a worry for you keep on paying and going to the vet every few weeks. It's not hard to learn just ask your vet.

I don't think you should buy your cockatiel there I sell them for $80 and they are babies very sweet at a store they may be very old who knows where they get them from I breed them here in my own home.

If you don't want to pay or don't have too much money I advise you  to go to a flea market where they hand fed them, and you pay less.

  4. I also have a cockatail and they're beautifully birds with plenty of energy. Yes they do cost around 80-140 dollars at pets mart. And i never had my cockatiels wings clipped so that im not sure about. But it's good to do alot oresearch onon them because they are really loving birds and need lots of attention. I keep mine in the office, which cabe bothersomeme since he want's alot of attention. And if i dont always give it to him he will scream a monotone beaping noise that drives me crazy.

Remember not to place the cage in a draft or area that has alot of wind. And try to keep the house at an average temp if it gets too cold or too hot he could get sick.

That was just some things i wanted to tell you to make sure your birds fully safe and happy. Because when i got mine i did not know and these were things that really could have hurt my bird since when wgone mynemy mom turns the air conditioner to like 60 degrees.

Best of luck. And remember to vary his diet and to look up what not too feed him. There are alot of things like certain cerials that people try to feed them that can really damage theyre digestion.

  5. I don't believe they clip the wings at petsmart. I bought a cocaktiel from a small pet shop and they clipped its wings so they can take it out of the cage without worrying it will fly away, but I don't think they do that at petsmart... if they don't it only costs about 10 or 15 dollars to clip the birds wings. cockatiels at petsmart are around 100 dollars. If you buy a cockatiel from a smaller chain it will be much cheaper like 70 dollars. If you want accurate information, browse around. go to petsmart and check the price and ask if the wings are clipped, also check out local petstores and compare prices. It is better to buy locally anyways because you are not supporting big business

  6. I work at PetSmart in the petcare dept. I bought my cockatiel there & he was handfed, wing's clipped & banded, he is social, well behaved & happy  in roomy cage or out playin with us. They make sure their birds are vet checked & free of disease & parasites. As far as cost, around $140.00, it is more expensive than a breeder, but worth it cause they guarantee health & back it up.

  7. Hello!

Whatever you do, DO NOT get your bird at Petsmart. They usually take horrible care of their birds. I have seen many many sick budgies and cockatiels there. You should find a local breeder- it will be a bit more expensive, but it's well worth it. Most breeders will clip wings for you and it usually isnt more than $10.

Also, cockatiels are very social birds, so if you're going to be away at work/school all day I suggest getting two.

    Good luck!
