Question about a orphanage in Quebec canada?

My dad was adopted from an orphanage in quebec canada and Catholic one...the only thing is, we dont know what part of Quebec it was or what the name was and so on, he would like to find his real parents if there still alive do any of you know of any catholic orphanages in quebec or a way to find some names?

  1. Wowsa. There were several hundred in the last century. Does he have any documents from Quebec that even list tiny clues? You're covering a province the size of most of the American Midwest. It's beyond a needle in a haystack at this point. Even a year and a copy of his birth certificate might help.


  2. A provincial ministry will assist people looking for their birth parents. Because the orphanages were managed by the catholic church rather than the state, you can imagine how difficult a task it is, today, to find the records.

    The law provides that the information will only be disclosed to your father if his birth mother registered her agreement to be found with the government ministry. Unless there is a documented medical emergency that would justify breaking the confidentiality.
