First off, I know this isn't the right section, but it was getting NO answers in hobbies, so I apologize!

On to the question...

Alright, I was going through my Wheat penny collection today, and I found a really strange one. I'm not sure if this is a striking error, or something someone did, but it looks like it happend a LONG time ago. As far as I can tell, this penny was from 1940 something, but it's a tough guess. It looks like there are two bands around the outside of the penny, on both sides. I have a picture, but it's kind of cruddy (cell phone picture), I only took a pic of the front because it was the only one that came out decent. Please tell me if you know anything about this!!

  1. The picture was a little bit hard to see, but I think I understand what you're saying. I also collect wheat back pennies and have never seen anything like it. I've got quite a few from the 1940's, but all of mine look normal. Perhaps it was an error in the crafting process or maybe something that some previous owner did to it a long time ago. These coins are old! Anyhow, I'm sorry that I couldn't come up with a definite answer for you... just thought I'd throw in my two cents. :-)
