Question:

Question about a present for a 6 year old?

My question is simple: What would be a good present for a 6 year old girl? She's my niece, and it's her B-day coming up soon. She likes the color pink. I've only known my sister had a daughter for about 6 months, so I really don't know what she'd want. I'm at a loss for a present, but I don't want to blow off her birthday and not get her anything. Thanks for the help!

  1. It doesn't have to be anything big--perhaps you could go to an accessory store and pick out some pink hair clips and cute plastic bracelets. Or, perhaps you could buy her a copy of a book that you enjoyed when you were her age. Art supplies are nearly foolproof for little kids; chances are she'll appreciate some nice felt pens or colored pencils, perhaps a coloring book. Modeling clay is also fun. If you go to the craft store, they usually have dozens of kits that are aimed at kids--bead kits, puppet kits, et cetera. You could look into one of those.

  2. 6 year olds are fun! I have a 7 and 5 year old and they love to play. Ok, first things first nothing messy. Parents hate those as presents. No play-doh, moon sand, floam, NO!

You should get her a gift certificate to Build-A-Bear Workshop, if there is one by her. They typically run $30 and it is a great experience for a child of that age.

    Other ideas:

    A Journal

    Locket

    Cartoon character video

There are lots of things to get but remember 6 year olds are reading and learning lots of cool stuff, so make sure you make her feel special!

  3. Vera Bradley (all tha little girls luv it) or hannah montana stuff

  4. My daughter is 5 and her favorite color is pink, she loves Webkinz, anything princess (I bought her Disney princess dress up clothes and shoes for Christmas) and she plays with them every chance she gets.

Also, I bought her a book called Pinkalicious and she still wants it read to her constantly!

The build a bear is a great idea too, I took my son and daughter there and they had a great time getting to personalize their very own stuffed animals and since they made them they are very careful and protective of them.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

  5. Teddy bear.

    A skirt.

    A purse.

    A necklace.

    A bracelet.

    Or a pink diary.

  6. Gift certificate to the build a bear workshop. I just bought my niece "Petsitter" Barbie from Toys R Us. She loved it!

  7. So do you know your sister at all?  Why not ask HER what her daughter is interested in?

  8. Fortunately, 6-year-olds are not very critical.

You could go to a bookstore and buy a nice book or two that are recommended for 6-year-old girls.  Bright colors are very helpful.

Girls that age usually do like pink and purple.  They tend to like dolls and stuffed toys.  They like things that are sparkly, like sequins or holograms or jewelry or doll clothes.... Flash is more important than monetary value.  Subtle, tasteful jewelry is not going to be the favorite, though they aren't going to complain about it.

Play Doh is always welcome; you can get various Play Doh kits at the toy store.  Washable markers are good too.

This only scratches the surface of the possibilities, but these items are guaranteed to please.

  9. Ask her mom if she likes Hannah Montana. That girl seems to be extremly popular!!

  10. a pink lepster l-max!

  11. Take her with you to a toy shop - let her choose her own present - then take her for a burger - she'll think the sun shines out of your bum!

  12. Libby Lues. Sweet! You make all make up and bye webkinz. You can also have your hair done and get different packes. Best of all, u can have bdays there! My little girl loves it! Make some make up for her and give it to her for her bday. To find one closeset to you, go to www.clublibbylu.com. Her birth day will be a hit. She'll love you forever! Good luck the the gift!

  13. Oh that age is easy!  They like everything!

Play-doh, art set and coloring book, barbies, ANY doll (especially ones with clothes and diapers and other accesories), pink shirt,pajamas/slippers/robe or hair supplies.  Ask her mom if she has aything that you can add things for.  For example, my 8 year old niece has an American girl doll, so she loves getting new clothes and furniture for it.  You can get her a disney movie, or they sell makeup for little girls.  You can get her nice smelling bubble baths, and bath toys.  The gift card is a good idea, but at 6 kids still love to rip open presents!  Get her something small to open as well.

  14. anything Hannah montana.

a webkinz would be nice too.
