Question about a tattoo I'm getting?

I'm getting a tattoo of a heart with a rainbow inside it with swirls around it inbetween my shoulder blades. I live in northern California right now but I am moving down to L.A. next year to go to beauty school. My question is, do you think it is okay to have a tattoo of a rainbow visible in L.A....and be safe? I just don't want to be in danger...I could always cover it up when I'm walking on the streets but I just want to know if it would be dangerous. Some people wouldn't immediately associate rainbows with homosexuality but I was just curious of some opinions. I have wanted this tattoo for a long time and I'm turning 18 in two months and I'm getting it on my birthday. g*y rights activism has been a big part of my life and I am also bisexual. I really don't care if you think that getting it is a bad idea, I just want to know if I would be able to have it showing in L.A.

  1. I'm going to be honest with you on this answer.

When I think of how a tattoo described as the one above would look on a female's back, the last thought in my mind is that she's homosexual.  It's a heart, many many women have hearts of all colors, shapes, and sizes on their backs.  It isn't going to make you a target.

The worst it'll do, as being a part of the homosexual community, will get a few nice women to ask you out on a date.  That's not so bad, is it?

  2. you'll be perfectly fine...a tattoo of a heart and rainbow doesn't scream homosexual to me...plus, i doubt anyone would care either way

  3. It's not like it's a gang tattoo or something. Get what you like, rainbows in art don't mean you're g*y. It's your ink!

  4. I live near LA and Hollywood, trust me you'll be fine, no one will care. I think it sounds cute and really who cares what everyone else thinks anyways? If you love it, get it and flaunt it! Trust me, you're in no danger, the only way you would be in a danger having a tattoo out here is if you had a gang tattoo. Don't worry about it. And good luck with beauty school!

    :)

  5. Honestly, you'll probably get criticized quite a bit for a tattoo like that, symbolizing that topic ANYWHERE, not just LA.

However, I am definitely with you and agree that g*y Rights are very important. My best friend of 15 years is g*y and he's afraid to admit it to anyone because he's afraid he'll never be accepted again. It's a lovely tattoo to someone who accepts g**s for who they are, people! But, there are others who believe g**s are sinners that are eternally damned to h**l and that they'll be the end of the world, or whatever it is those idiots believe... But, I love the symbolism behind it, and I think it's a pretty cool tattoo. Just be ready to be mocked for your "horrible, sinful lifestyle"! Lol...

Good luck, and thank you for standing up for people like my best friend! g**s are normal people too!
