Question about adsense and my own domain vs. blog host like blogger.com?

Okay here is my quesiton.. I am using blogspot as host for blog and zlio stores as host for online store. Both take percentage of revenue from adsense if clickor whatever are through them. for instance this month there was a column titled page ECPM?

it totaled 75 bucks and I got 69 cents earned from adsense.

I am not sure I am reading the stuff right as it seems 12.54 for 1 click would be high to pay to my hosts... and another time its only 3 bucks for 1 click thru. So varies a lot on the ECPM

I am wondering if it wouldn't be better to have my own domain as host or is there much more benefit to having blog host... ??

any one? I asked on one site but didn't receive any responses thta I know of.

  1. I'm not sure about Zlio as I haven't heard of it, but Blogger does NOT take a percentage of your revenue from Adsense. You only share your Adsense revenue with Google, and Blogger (which is owned by Google) does not take a cut

There's ALWAYS a column ECPM. It is computed as revenue / number of impressions and is a very useful metric to determine the best ads for your site. For example, you use Adsense where your ECPM is $15 while with banner ad network BurstMedia your ECPM is only $3 -- that tells you that Adsense is a better vehicle for you to use (e.g. don't waste your space by giving it to lower performing products)

Blogs are harder to monetize because of its very nature -- people coming in to read about the blogger's views and writings. It all depends particularly with your topic.

The amount you earn is not really a factor of whether you have your own domain or not. But rather, which one is easier for users to remember and URL to type in. Because if your site is easier to remember -- shorter domain name instead of the long blogger address -- then they can go to your site more easily and that means higher traffic for you.

The more traffic you have, the higher the opportunity to earn from Adsense.

So the key decision point should be: which will bring you more traffic?
