We are interested in getting an air filter for our home, but we keep seeing http://www.amazon.com/3M-Filtrete-Allergen-Reduction-2004DC-6/dp/B0002YVDHS

How do this filters work and where do we install them and how do we know what size to buy? Do this work with our air conditioner? We do have central ac

  1. are you talking about a filter you put in a hvac system or a stand -alone unit? The filtrete is a more  efficient filter than the old style but only filter when hvac is running. The stand -alone models are self-contained units with filter and fan motor in the unit.they generally handle around 600-800 sf of living space each and can be run 24/7 at relatively low cost


  2. Look at your furnace and find the airfilter. It is in the return air. It has the size on it. These filters work by having a very closed cell media that captures particles measured in microns. The best are statically charged and work the same as a house clean air machine. Both are good but remember that they will need to be changed very frequenty. Especially in the beginning because the catch dust and spores and microscopic bacterias. Most have a whistle built in so when it whistles it is time to replace.
