Question about amazon and shipping?

this is my first time ordering something from amazon, and i have a question. where does my package go if im not home to recieve my order? do they take it to the post office or what?

If you are not home and the delivery person determines that it is not safe for them to leave the package at your door, they will leave you a notice, in your mailbox or on your door.  Then you can call for redelivery.  Or they just might leave the box.  It depends.

Usually, they leave it at my door if I'm not there.  Otherwise you may have to pick it up.  It depends on where you live...
