I'm 18 and had one to check my pancreas/gallbadder because i've been having discomfort around that area that my doctor isn't sure is caused by Gastritis which she thinks i got after taking strong Ibuprofen for a few weeks because of back pain which irritated my stomach lining and has caused problems on and off since (3 months ago now).

Anyways after i had it done she goes " right all done, looks good " and smiled, i take it everything looked fine?

I did look at the screen myself but i had no idea what i was looking for.

So it's probs down to the Gastritis i take it?

I've been worried sick about it!

Xo.

  1. She was probably checking you with the ultrasound for pancreatitis or gall stones, both of which can be very painful.  "All done, looks good" means that your pancreas and gallbladder are OK.  No masses, inflammation, or stones.  So, with those ruled out, you probably have gastritis from the NSAID (ibuprofen).  You probably will have to be careful of the meds you take, since you developed the gastritis, and avoid aspirin and ibuprofen.

If your are off the ibuprofen, and your gastritis doesn't clear up, your doctor probably will put you on Pepcid or Prevacid for the stomach irritation.

Meanwhile, don't worry.  If you have questions, give your doctor's office a call.

  2. the tech that did the ultrasound isn't your doctor.  That remark is vague.  He or she should not have said anything.

Call the doctor's office that ordered the ultrasound and ask them about the results and make sure you get a complete explanation of the results.  That means, get the diagnosis, the course of treatment, and the follow up.

  3. If there was anything seriously wrong, she probably would have been able to see, so don't worry! You would have gone through a doctor, ring the doctor in a few days for the results!
