When you are walking on a street and step aside for someone (say a person on a bicycle or pushing a baby carriage) and they say "cheers," are you supposed to say something back?

  2. You could say "no problem". That's what I would say if someone said that to me here in Ireland.

  3. If some one says "Cheers" in this context it means thank you so you can say "You're welcome" Or "No problem" but you don't have to say anything if you don't want to.
