You have aqueous solutions of HCl, NaCH3COO, and AgNO3. What are the ions that are present in these aqueous solutions? When you mix all of the solutions together, what reactions, if any will occur?

  1. H+ and Cl- for HCl, Na+ and CH3COO- for NaCH3COO and Ag+ and NO3- for AgNO3.

    If you mix them, AgCl will form and precipitate; CH3COO- and H+ will react to form CH3COOH.


  2. Besides h+ and OH- existing in all aqueous solution, you have Cl- , Ch3COO- Ag+ and NO3-

    when you mix AgCl which is nearly insoluble precipitates

    Ag+ +Cl- <---> Ag Cl
