At what age do babies soft spots usually close completely?

I know they are born with 2 and the first one closes by 6 weeks, but my question is about the one on top of their heads. My daughters was completely closed by 1 year but my son is 6 months old and his soft spot still seems to be rather large, I would say about the size of a nickel.

  3. Don't worry it's fine.  I had a talk about this to my son's pediatrician and they explain that it can take them up to 2 years to have the soft spot harden.  The soft spot is there because it give the brain room to grow.
