Question about baby boys height.?

When my baby was born he weighed 8lb 12 oz but he was super long even the midwife commented on how long he was.

He is 6 months old now and wears 9 to 12 month old clothes, he weighs 22lbs but hes not overweight for his frame.

We roughly mesured him yesterday, and he was the average height of a 12 month old.

Is anyone elses baby like this, what do you do about finding clothes for them?? because hes growing out of the 9 to 12 month old clothes in length but the next size is too big on his waist.

Also hes been for a 6 to 8 week check but hes not had any more checks like this. Will he not get anymore checks like this now?

  1. I was like that when I was little. When I was a one year old in 1988, I was 30.5 inches tall, but I was only 18 pounds, I wore size 18 months clothes at 12 months old.. By the time I was 2 to 7 years I always short for my age that I always the shortest one in my class.( I always wear clothes in size for kid 2 years younger like when I was 5 years old I wore size 3 clothing.) There's a lot of babies are big for their age at infant/ toddler age, but by the time they're over 2 years they turn out to be short  for their age

  2. He'll be fine, my daughters the same, she's not 2 yet(on the top centile line in the little red book) and is in much bigger clothes.  It is slightly easier for girls though as if you stick a skirt on them , if they are too tall it just looks like a short skirt or cropped trousers. Try going up a few more sizes. The leg length will be slightly longer (nothing wrong with turn-ups) but the waist size comes in a bit as they don't ware nappies.  They get another check at around a year.

  3. You will probably get another check at around 7-9 months.

Don't worry about it - my daughter was very big by that age and now she's almost 3 and about average. Some babies grow faster than others but I'm sure it'll level out. If you're really concerned, contact your health visitor - it's about time they were useful for something!

  4. Hi

in england, your baby'll have a development check around 10 months old and mine just had hers last week.

our little girl is tall for her age too, she is 11 months old tomorrow but we put 18-23 months old cloth/trousers on her.and yes its difficult to buy her trousers sometimes, either too loose or too long, we just go for those longer one then roll them up. haha...

she weighs nearly 25 pounds, but our health visitor said she isn't fat or overweight at all because she's quite long.

if you're really concerned about his height, take him to the baby clinic etc to have a check up by professionals. but i wouldn't worry too much, having a tall/long baby is nice as long as they're healthy.

our baby takes this from her daddy (myself isn't tall), so i guess your son must take it from 1 of you or even both!

btw,we were told the 10 months check up should be the last check up from them unless you want to take your baby in for certain reasons.

of course, you can always call them or pop up in the clinic!

    all the best

  5.    Well I have a little girl that's eight weeks old and 24 inches long already. She can where 3 to 6 months clothes for her length, but they're too baggy on her body. I haven't figured out waht to do yet, so she just where's the clothes or dresses and nightgowns, but that won't help your little guy.

  6. maybe hes just born to be a basketball player? lol. i wouldn't worry about it. as for clothes, i think the easiest think for you to do in the long run would be to learn how to take his clothes in at the waist, or talk to a friend who can sew and ask if they can  do it for you out of love...

  7. both my son and daughter were/are long. but what makes it hard to dress them is they are long in the waist. they had the same problem you are having with onesies and such like that.... for him, i've been using over-alls... then you don't have to worry about them fitting the waist :)

  8. Don't worry about it.. he will just be tall when hes older.

  9. my baby was born 9lbs, and was also very long, he is now 8 and a half months and he is 24lbs and 82cm long, which puts him perfectly into 12 months clothing. the only problems i have are that the length in the arms are a bit short.

why dont you try and find trousers that have the adjustable waistband? thats what i have done, then you can adjust them to how they fit comfortable!

    hope this helps....

    they should do a 8-10month check :)
