  1. females have a fan shaped fin underneath males have a fin that is shaped like a tube

  2. not sure of the exact age but there is a noticable difference, males will have a gonopodium, with which they impregnate the females, males also tend to be smaller and more brightly coloured than the females

  3. Well you can tell their gender at 2-3 weeks old and males will have a gonopodium which is a fin that looks very straight, they will also be smaller than the females at about 2 months old and females will have an anal fin which will be sort of rounded also females will be less colorful than the males.

  4. Hi,

I have recently started to breed guppy fry also and can advise the way to tell a male from a female is if you look at where there a**s would be the female has a black spot, when she is pregnant this gets bigger which also gives you an indication of when she will give birth which is normally every 23-27 days.  I can tell normally from week 3 what s*x they are and touch wood i have not been wrong yet :-)  Also females can store up to 6 depositss of sperm so even if you took all the males out she can continue to have fry for up to another 5months, weird right.  And you will find your fry will be pregnant from about 4-5 weeks.  They are quick learners lol :-)  I hope this helps and happy breeding.

  5. You can tell as early as 3-4 weeks. A lot of people say you can only tell at 3 months but if you look closely you can see a tiny black line on the females.
