Question:

Question about baby movement - 25 weeks?

I was just wondering if you can feel baby movement directed towards your back? - say if my baby is kicking towards my spine. I know early on in fetal movement that movement cannot be detected. I was just wondering if later in pregnancy it can be. If so, what does it feel like?

Sometimes I feel my son moving but his movements are faint. I'm not sure if they are less powerful kicks or he is just kicking somewhere else.

  1. It is completely possible that he is kicking toward your back.  At 25 weeks, he is still small enough and has enough room to change position frequently.  Pefectly normal.  Obviously, these kicks will seem fainter.  Have they checked to determine where the placenta is?  If it is anterior (right in the front) he kicks may feel quite dulled to you since he kicking the placenta and that gives an extra layer of padding.

He sounds just fine.  I would be concerned if his movements were considerably less than usual or disappeard altogether.

    Congrats on your little boy!

  2. I don't ever remember feeling kicks near my back, I think there are just too many muscles/organs near the back to really be able to feel it. Later on though, especially near the end, it will feel like that baby is going to come out dancing! I remember sometimes it was even difficult to fall asleep because of all the movement. It's actually a really cool feeling but can get a bit frustrating. Think of big bubbles popping in your tummy. It kind of feels like that. Sometimes your baby will stretch his legs out and you'll be able to see a little foot sticking out one side of your tummy. I would just gently press on it and "push it back in" if it became to uncomfortable.

  3. at 37 weeks i haven't felt any movements other than those that are located around my belly. i'm sure if the kick was hard enough it is possible to feel it but especially if your placenta is at the back of your uterus there's an extra layer of cushioning.

  4. Isn't 25 weeks about 6 months into pregnancy?

If so, of course you can feel the baby kicking and moving around (even near your back).

If you really want to feel him then just drink some juice and he'll really become active!

Oh and a bit of advice.

Baby's love the sound of mothers heartbeat so you can record your heartbeat and play it back for him while he's sleeping in his crib and it will give him lots of comfort.

Or hold him close to your chest so he can hear your heartbeat first hand.

It reminds them of when they were joined with you in the whomb.

Congrats and enjoy your new angel!

  5. if you have a rear facing placenta then this should be normal...just make sure to question your doctor...
