I babysit a 14 month old whose parents are both teachers. They pay me $30 a day for a 9 hour day. This breaks down to $3/per hour. Do you think this is reasonable???

  1. yep, that is what they would probably pay, if they put the child into care.

If you are not happy, get a job in a centre.

  2. That is about right.

I am a babysitter and i was shocked at the pay here in Louisiana. I come from California and it was minimum $9-10 an hr. I tried charging that here and parents looked at me like i wanted to get rich off of their kids lol...... So i had to charge what every other babysitter in my area was charging. $100 dollars a week. M-F 7am-5:30 pm I did my research so that would be $20 a day! That's that I have my teaching credentials, have over 8 years experience in working with children, I am CPR and First Aid certified!

So yeah I would say $30 dollars is reasonable its more than what I'm being payed. Good Job!

  3. Yes, I think that 3 dollars an hour is a reasonable amount especially since it is the summer time and as teacher they aren't getting paid to much.

  4. NO WAY!

With today's market prices, you should be getting paid much more! The younger the child the more work it is to take care of them, and the more you should be getting paid. I understand they are both on a teacher's salary, but you should be paid more. Look below:

    If you are a teenager:

    9 hours a day x (at least $6 per hour)= at least $54

    If you are an adult:

    9 hours a day x (at least 10 dollar per hour)= at least $90

Now, to you this may seem like a lot, but if you think about it, you are working and watching this baby for 9 hours, you should check the above chart to see how much you should be getting paid. hope i helped, and good luck with the babysitting.

  5. yes this is reasonable. the pay for the babysitting job depends on how much the clients pay. there is no minimum wage for babysitting unless you work for a babysitting company.

  6. yes i pay $20.00 a day per child.now granted I'm rarely gone 9 hours but I pay extra to keep a good sitter.
