Question:

Question about bad service at a restaurant - Ordered something and they screwed it up on purpose?

I was by my self at lunch time, and ordered this item with no tomatoes as usual. I don't think they like me, because they brought it out with three times more tomatoes than normal, plus it was obviously burnt. I mean BLACK (except of course for the red tomatoes that covered 90% of it too).

Did they do this on purpose? Should I have refused to pay? I was in a hurry and could not wait for another one (this was not fast food joint). Can I sue them if they did this on purpose? I paid for it, but didn't eat any of it, didn't tip anything at all to the waitress, and left tomatoes all over the table, chairs, and floor by the way (eheheheheh).

  1. If you didn't like it why did you pay for it? And no you do not leave a mess behind just because you were not happy. You must enjoy making a mess i wonder what your house looks like a pigsty i think.

  2. you have got a big -personnal problem, you should relate this to the phsyco-ward on answers !!

  3. You should have asked to see the manager as soon as you got the meal.  Leaving tomatoes all over the place was immature and made you look like an airhole. You could go back to the restaurant when you have more time and ask to speak to the manager or owner and explain why you did what you did. If he cares about his business he will make it right. If, however, you go there often and are in the habit of doing things as you described, I doubt he will even speak to you.

As for a lawsuit, it would be very difficult to prove that they ruined your meal on purpose.

In addition, if you continue to go to that restaurant without resolving the issue, an abundance of tomatoes or burnt food will not be the only thing you'll have to worry about.

  4. Your best action would have been to turn down the plate in the beginning, then never go there again.

Over a lifetime, there's going to be an issue every 1 out of 100 purchases no matter where you go.

Most of the time you get a good meal wherever you go right?

  5. Never have lunch with me dude. I love tomatoes.

  6. What is it with this obsession americans have about suing each other? Unnecessary, petty cases just tie up court time and waste tax payers money. No, of course you can't sue the restaurant because your order was wrong. You certainly could have and should have refused to pay for it though. As for leaving the tomatoes all over the place that was very juvenile in my opinion, but if it made you fell better...

  7. If you don't know anybody at the restaurant (like an old girlfriend who you dumped), you should complain about your food once you notice something is wrong with it. We routinely go to restaurants with my wife and she often rejects food if something is not up to her liking. The result is they always replace it and sometimes don't even charge for anything. General attitude is: "If you didn't like it - it's on us."

You just need to be more outspoken in a polite way. :)

  8. No, you can't sue over something frivolous like that! And how do you know they did it on purpose? And if you never get it with tomatoes, how do you know there was 3 times the normal amount on whatever it is you ordered? If you never get good service anywhere you go, maybe it's YOU. Maybe you should use some manners and tip your server!  If you are not happy with the way your meal is prepared, speak to the manager, and I'm sure they will discount it in some way. Oh and very mature of you to leave tomatoes everywhere!!
