  1. Do you have any court dates pending?  I'd let my recruiter know.  I wouldn't want you not to get your BK discharged if you need to appear, and don't.

I'd talk to my attorney and see what he/she says.  If your atty says go ahead and join up, then you're good.

  2. Actually, to bounce off of what Yak Rider said, getting a Secret security clearance can be a problem. They look at things like credit history. Certainly you wouldn't be able to get a Top Secret like Yak said, but you may be denied a Secret clearance as well! The reason is because they see that you have money troubles, and if you have access to these sensitive materials, you'll have more of a motive to commit treason for money.

Otherwise, it shouldn't be an issue...not for enlisting!

  3. No.  The only possible thing it could effect is getting a Top Secret security clearance.  Secret and below would be no problem.  Not many jobs require Top Secret.

  4. Bankruptcy itself won't hurt you. It's legal things that the Army cares about. If you went to prison for murder, that's pretty important. Most people in the Army come in severely in debt or they become that way. If you have outstanding student loans, they will pay for that, and there are tons of programs that help soldiers financially. Army Emergency Relief, budgeting classes, Army Community Services... Not to mention free health and dental. The list is endless.
