i was going to go with an iguana, but then found that they will be kind of a handfull for right now. So, possibly will go with a bearded dragon.

so, someone who owns a bearded dragon tell me/help me out and give me some pointers about optimal care for them.

few random questions

Whats the biggest that they can/culd get (im aiming for a bigger lizard)

Is it alright to let them roam rather free around the house or certain areas and such?

thanks a lot

  1. A regular adult Beardie is about 18" long. Rankins Dragons get about 8-12" long. There is also what is called a German Giant Bearded Dragon - they get a fair bit larger, up to 26" long, but typically topping out at 2 feet.

Not a good idea to let it roam - it could escape or be accidentally injured, plus it would be hard to feed, clean and give the required heat and UVB rays.

And definitely not with the birds, they will probably attack the Beardie and it'd be very stressful for the Beardie and stress can reek havoc on a reptiles health.

  2. well i don't really have any pionters but i can tell you that it is fine to let them roam around, my friend has one and we literaly let him do what he wants, just don't let the cats in the room lol

  3. The dwarve ones get about 3-8 inches the normal ones get about 1foot and the bigger ones get about 2 feet.

    the birds wiil attack

  4. They are a better alternative to iguanas when it comes to maintenance, but they can grow to be over 2 feet. And they will need a really large tank when they get to be that big. As for roaming around the house, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you want to learn a lot about them, I suggest going to repticzone.com. They have a whole bunch of questions that will probably help you and the people on the forum are really  nice.

    Good Luck !
